While I was working on an arrangement I saw Wayne Shorter's tweet re-proposing the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra concert with Wynton Marsalis in 2015. I listened to Yes Or No and what struck me was, not only the splendid arrangement that gave a new face to this immortal standard, but also the intelligent musical economy of Shorter who, elderly and saddened, played the notes and the most beautiful breaks that only a jazz giant can do. The special is amazing! Video is below! Happy listening!
